The Rebirth of an Icon: “Super Speed” Arrives, a New High-Performance Category Exclusive to VW Beetles
The roar of engines is about to take on a new, nostalgic melody. Arriving in 2026 is “Super Speed,” a revolutionary motorsport category that promises to revive the essence of “old-school” racing, blending the legendary charisma of the Volkswagen Beetle with the cutting-edge technology of modern motorsport.
Conceived by mechanical engineer Giancarlo Di Giacomo, the category seeks not merely to pay homage to the past, but to redefine what a Beetle is capable of delivering in terms of aerodynamics, speed, and adrenaline.
The “Senna Edition” Phenomenon
Even before its official launch, the category’s prototype, affectionately dubbed the “Senna Edition” for its livery inspired by the iconic helmet of the three-time world champion, has already proven its magnetic appeal.
A preliminary post shared by the team on Facebook with a select group of friends broke through digital boundaries, going viral with over 100,000 views in just a few hours.

Technology and Performance
Unlike any “classics” category seen before, Super Speed features:
Advanced Aerodynamics:Massive front spoilers, rear diffusers, and dual-wing airfoils (GT3-style) comprise the aerodynamic appendages, delivering enhanced efficiency during races.
Competition Chassis:
A reinforced structure, designed to withstand high G-forces and high-speed cornering, utilizes the Beetle’s original chassis and bodywork as its platform. These are integrated with a subframe (a tubular spaceframe) to which the double-wishbone suspension and the mid-mounted longitudinal engine are anchored. Modern Aesthetics:
A “wide body” design that retains the Beetle’s unmistakable silhouette, yet possesses the stance of a true track monster.
Global Expansion
The initial impact was so overwhelming that Super Speed has already crossed Brazilian borders. “Old-guard” drivers and international investors have already formally expressed their interest. Currently, the organization is reviewing invitations to bring its grid of ultra-fast Beetles to iconic circuits across the United States and Europe.
