Lionsgate celebrated the I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 premiere tonight in the heart of “Music City,” Nashville, at The Fisher Center at Belmont University. Talent John Michael Finley (I Can Only Imagine), Milo Ventimiglia (“This Is Us,” “Heroes”), Sophie Skelton (“Outlander”), Arielle Kebbel (“9-1-1,” “Ballers,” “The Vampire Diaries”), Sammy Dell (Trevor: The Musical), Trace Adkins (Moms’ Night Out) walked the carpet along with filmmakers Co-Director/Producer/Composer Andrew Erwin (American Underdog, I Still Believe) , Co-Director/Writer/Executive Producer Brent McCorkle (Jesus Revolution), MercyMe’s Bart Millard (Portrayed on-screen by John Michael Finley), Singer/Songwriter Tim Timmons (Portrayed on-screen by Milo Ventimiglia), Producer Daryl Lefever (American Underdog, “House of David’), Producer Josh Walsh (Jesus Revolution, Unsung Hero), Producer Cindy Bond (Miracle on 42nd Street). Special guests included Amy Grant (Singer), Anne Wilson (Singer), Hannah Brown (TV Personality, “The Bachelor”), Joel Courtney (Super 8, The Kissing Booth), Joel and Moriah Smallbone (For King & Country), Luke and Courtney Smallbone (For King & Country), Mike Scheuchzer (MercyMe), Nathan Cochran (MercyMe), and Robby Shaffer (MercyMe), and Danica McKellar (Actor).
Following the screening, audiences were invited to remain in the theater for a special worship moment, joining together in a rendition of the hymn “It Is Well.” Guests then continued the celebration at an afterparty held at The Twelve Thirty Club. Synopsis: After the breakout success of the song “I Can Only Imagine,” MercyMe’s Bart Millard (John Michael Finley) is living the dream—sold-out arenas, a devoted fan base, and a thriving career. But behind the spotlight, Bart’s past threatens the family he’s built, especially the fragile bond with his son, Sam (Sammy Dell).
When hopeful newcomer Tim Timmons (Milo Ventimiglia, “This Is Us”) joins the band for their biggest tour yet, he unknowingly brings a renewed gratitude to Bart’s life through their unlikely friendship. Bart soon discovers that Tim carries hardships—and secrets—of his own, forcing him to face his past and repair his relationships with Sam and his wife, Shannon (Sophie Skelton), before fame costs him what matters most.
